MIT App Inventor Giving

Please keep App Inventor in mind this Giving Tuesday

MIT App Inventor urgently needs your help so we can keep it free of charge for everyone!

In the 14 years since MIT took over the App Inventor project from Google, our team has worked tirelessly to grow our user base to over 24 million in 195 countries worldwide — more than 100 million apps! In recent years, we’ve added iOS compatibility, AI chatbot and imagebot capabilities, and tons of new data science and internet of things (IoT) tutorials. Throughout App Inventor’s growth and progress, we’ve managed to keep the platform completely FREE for every learner far and wide, young and old.

But our team at MIT is very small, and costs to keep App Inventor running are soaring. Our expenses include maintaining infrastructure, preserving backups, and now providing access to generative AI.

All of our funding comes from grants and sponsorships, and given the recent massive reduction in government grant funding, we are depending on support from generous donors like you to keep App Inventor free and functional.

If only a fraction of our users contribute a few dollars each month, we could continue doing the work we love, and you could keep building the apps you love! Every dollar is tax-deductible (MIT tax exempt ID 04-2103594) to the full extent of U.S. law. The average donation is $10, but even a few dollars from you would help keep App Inventor going.

Please don’t click away and give what you can to help keep MIT App Inventor FREE for everyone!

With our deepest gratitude,

The MIT App Inventor team
